How do you get major search engines to recognise your website?

Hi!
I have nearly completed my website but Im now at a point where I need to get major Search Engines like yahoo, google etc to recognise it!
Im not sure how to do this!
Any help would be much appreciated!

Add your website to directories. They provide a link, and that qualifies your website. Also, update content frequently… Google likes that.

    If there is any noticeable features or wording on your website then whilst the search engine, use the boolean technique of "speech marks"

    Presumably you don't just want to submit the site to search engines, you also want the site to be optimised so that people will find it and use it.

    It's a common problem - you should have researched this BEFORE you created your site, not after it!

    I Would like to suggest first submit /put your website in various directories here you can find good high PR and SEO friendly directories http://maxinspire.co.in/business/download-center

    Second I would suggest to choose blog commenting as it quite safe to create a back-links in eye of google. How to comments learn here.

    Do a search in Yahoo UK Answers, this has been asked and answered before with all the links.

    Submit your site to dmoz.org - all the major search engines use it as a feed.

    Congratulations.

    To get your site recognized is a process. There are a number of things you can and need to do. All of the above are good but there are much more.

    First, at this point, do not pay for anything. You need more traffic before you start to pay for traffic. Lots more. This will allow you to see where your traffic is coming from and use your money wisely.

    You will want to get links to your site. One way links are the best. You can get these from directories. You want to only submit to 5-7 per day.

    You could also put out a press release.

    Post on forums.

    Post on blogs. If your site is family friendly and if you post a one word comment on http://www.UlteriorArt.com you will get a link to your site. This is another way to get the search engines to recognize you.

    There are probably over 100 things you can do, most of which are free.

    The best method is star a blog in your niche.You can start your blog as a seperate domain and link to your site, or make as a subdirectory. Try linking to your site in the postings. Then do book marking in major book marking sites. Propeller, mix, stumble, Tecnorati etc will give better effect. This will give one way links also. Use onlywire to do it in one click. There is a free option.
    This will get you noticed by major search engines.
    Do blog commenting in your niche. Do meaningful comments.
    There are many blogs you can do guest posting.
    Write articles and submit in article directories and insert links in your bio box.
    If your selected keyword is of reasonable search volume, and moderate competition, you can get in to first page in a short time.
    Also you can change your title according to your selected keyword.
    Insert some H1 size description at begining and end of your webpage, which contain your selected keyword.
    Don't over do it or spam with keywords.
    Getting links should be in a consistent manner. No more than 15-20 links per day.
    If you do these, not only you get indexed, but also you can come top in your selected keywords.

    go to blogs related to your topic and post a comment on the blog but put your link in the blog post to your domain http://www. your domain.com

    if you put a link on popular blogs then google searches those sites daily and spiders will find your new site

    posting an answer right here on yahoo answers is one way, take a look at my source below points link to my site, then just copy what I did and use your source to your website, now do you understand

    I would let one of the web services to do it for you. It saves you a lot of time and money, and they can get your site indexed and get you good page rank a lot faster than you can do it by yourself. I use http://www.wilsonwebsiteconsultants.com.
